Natural Remedies

As fall approaches so does a number of illnesses as the weather changes, schools are back in session, and flu season begins. Ever wonder about some natural remedies to help with the season? We have found honey and garlic to be some of our personal favorites for boosting our immune system in fall.

Honey has many health benefits, as you probably heard us mention numerous times before. It is high in antioxidants which will help with inflammation, which in turn can help balance the immune system and prevent illnesses. Additional healthy benefits of honey include: antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial properties.

Garlic has been used historically to treat colds and coughs. It contains antibacterial properties due to the allicin found in the garlic. Therefore, consuming garlic can help boost your immune system.

Now combine these two powerful ingredients with their antibacterial and immune boosting properties to have some flavorful, natural alternatives for the upcoming flu season. Try adding these ingredients to salad dressings, marinades, and other recipes to boost your immune system. Check out Recipe Corner for some recipes that contain both garlic and honey like the Air Fryer Shrimp Kaboobs, Stuffed Chicken Breast, Kale Salad, and Browned Butter Honey Garlic Salmon

Ask your doctor or dietitian about any health concerns for consuming  honey and/or garlic in your diet.

  • Brenda,

That is a good question! We did the same thing a few years ago for personal use. It seemed to work out just fine. But i’m honestly not sure if its safe or we just got lucky no one got sick!

  • Can you add the garlic to the honey jar and use it like that in recipes? My son put some in a jar (not refrigerated) and said it is delicious on steaks. Is this safe?
I would like to buy your honey/garlic combo.
